PPM AT THE ECONOMIC FORUM IN KARPACZ

Sep 4, 2025

Can you imagine Europe without migrant workers…? In PPM, we know well that behind every policy and statistics on migration, there are real people and real stories that keep our economies and societies moving forward.

This is why we are thrilled to share that our President, Patrycja Sałacińska, had the honor of representing PPM during the XXXIV Economic Forum in Karpacz – one of the most important events of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe, gathering over 6,000 leaders and experts from across the world.

Patrycja was invited to the high-level panel “Migrant Worker: Enemy or Asset? Stereotypes, Competition, and Synergy in the European Labour Market”, a debate on one of the most complex issues of today.

✨ The conversation revealed two faces of labour migration:
🔹 as an engine of growth and innovation, filling workforce gaps and enriching societies,
🔹 but also as a source of fear and misconceptions, often clouded by stereotypes and concerns about competition.

Together with inspiring speakers – Diogo Cabral (UNHCR), Justyna Weber (City of Munich), Marcin Stanecki (Polish National Labour Inspectorate), Igor Lidin (Fundacja Ukraina), and Stylianos Ioannis Tzagkarakis (Hellenic Open University) – and under the moderation of Oleksandr Martyniuk, Patrycja brought forward the voice and experience of our community in Spain.

💡Before the panel, we ran a dedicated survey among PPM members, capturing insights about the role and challenges of migrant workers in Spain. These voices shaped Patrycja’s intervention and made sure our perspective was heard on the European stage.

🙏 Huge thanks to everyone who shared their views – we will soon present the results in an engaging form! Stay tuned!
