Let’s consider the following statements:
🔸 The “black-tie” dress code is the only one acceptable at the opera.
🔸 A suit and trainers are not the best combination in the professional context.
🔸 You shouldn’t wear vivid colours to a job interview.
They might have been true a decade ago. But times have changed, and the business world is trying to keep up with those changes. Today, rules around what’s considered “professional image” have been relaxed in many industries.
What hasn’t changed is the psychology behind the perception of image. It states that we subconsciously “judge” others based on appearance within 7 seconds of meeting them. Hence, the question: “What message do I want to send to the world through my attire?” remains relevant.
We learned about it from Carmen Trinchant, who is an image coach, stylist and expert in colorimetry. During her insightful workshop, she spoke about how to gain confidence, transmit authority, and become an impactful role model, leveraging your own image. At the same time, she encouraged participants to stay true to their individual style and remain authentic.
Thank you, Carmen, for sharing that valuable knowledge with us, so we can start to consciously dress for success. And big thanks to Boguslaw Antropow for hosting and organizing this great workshop for us!
